Bogdan Dumitrache was born in Bucharest. While still in high school, he decided he wanted to pursue an acting career. He was admitted to the National University of Theatre and Cinema Art, which he graduated in 1999, in the class of Mircea Albulescu, one of the most notable Romanian actors. He made his debut as an actor on the stage of Constantin Nottara theatre, in 2000, but he quickly abandoned the theatre in favor of film. Quite shortly, his silver screen career took off, as Bogdan starred in highly acclaimed prize-winning long and short films, such as: "Traffic," directed by Catalin Mitulescu; "The Death of Mr. Lazarescu," directed by Cristi Puiu; "Andreea's Tram," directed by Alex Iordachescu; "The Way I Spent the End of the World," directed by Catalin Mitulescu; "The Boxing Lesson," directed by Alexandru Mavrodineanu; "The Portrait of the Fighter as a Young Man," directed by Constantin Popescu, "Stuck on Christmas," directed by Iulia Rugina and "Best Intentions," directed by Adrian Sitaru. Although he became known to the larger public because of his role of Tudor in the Romanian adaptation of the American TV hit "In Treatment", Bogdan earned the critics' recognition for his feature films. Thus, the role of Laurian Hasiu "Leu" in "The Portrait of the Fighter as a Young Man" brought him the GOPO award (Romanian equivalent for the Academy Awards) for best actor in a supporting role, while the role of Alex in the 2011 "Best Intentions" brought him the Golden Leopard for Best Actor at the 2011 Locarno International Film Festival. - IMDb Mini Biography By: Izabell
